Shawn Slade | Rewild My Bio: Rewilding & Connecting with Nature
Nature-based philosopher, award-winning health coach annd entrepreneur, nature connection researcher, and host of the Rewild My Bio Podcast. Shawn Slade is proving to be an emerging lead scholar on nature contact, nature connection, and human health. Shawn holds degrees in business and economics (2006), political science (2008), a Master of Science (2014), and is currently a PhD candidate in health promotion at Western University in London Ontario. Shawn’s life experience has allowed him to develop a multi-disciplinary perspective which he applies to his current work with the aim of bringing balance to the human-nature relationship for health, happiness, and overall well-being.
Some of Shawn’s professional endeavours include: Co-Founder of Booch Organic Kombucha, research consultant for Exercise is Medicine Canada, nutrition and weight loss instructor for Canfit Pro, part-time professor of health promotion at Fanshawe College, and numerous speaking engagements with ACSM, CSEP, and other academic conferences and trade shows. Shawn enjoys spending quality time with family, friends and giving back to his community, stewarding his land in the Canadian shield, and his daily spiritual and nature connection practice. He is an old-school fermentation geek, natural movement buff, wild foodie, and lifelong learner in all things flow states, ancestral living, permaculture, and natural medicine.
Upon completion of his dissertation on nature connection and forest therapy, Shawn’s focus will be on creating and delivering educational content through his podcast, publications, public speaking engagements, courses, and healing work with patients and clients via one-on-one ecopsychology coaching. Shawn’s areas of academic expertise are in sedentary behaviour and physical activity; fermented food and digestive health; ecopsychology and wilderness-based therapies; nature connection, spirituality, and mental health; health policy; and philosophical foundations of qualitative inquiry.
